This truly beautiful beech, which takes centre-stage in the grounds of the former Moorfield House at Swartha, is nominated as our tree of the week by allotment gardener and keen walker Anna Young.

Although surrounded by other woodland trees, this beech appears to stand alone in its great leafy splendour. Just now it is taking on all the glorious rich colours of autumn.

“The tree is very special to me, crowning as it always does my walk from the allotments up through the fields towards Swartha” says Anna.
